Tigran Sargsyan: Armenia-China Relationship Boasting Good Development Dynamics

Prime Minister Tigran Sargsyan attended a ceremonious reception dedicated to the national holiday of the People’s Republic of China.

Congratulating those present on behalf of the Government of Armenia and himself, Tigran Sargsyan wished the Chinese people happiness and well-being.

With reference to Armenia-China relationship, the head of government stressed the dynamic interaction between the two countries in various fields of activity. “We give special importance to the relations with China, which is a key actor on the international political and economic arena. Appreciating China’s focus on our country and the region, as a whole, we are grateful for its well-balanced and constructive policy in the region. I wish to assure you that China has a trustworthy partner and a loyal friend in the face of Armenia,” the Prime Minister said.

Financial and technical assistance was said to be an important component of China’s policy toward Armenia. The head of the Armenian government reminded that during his September 10, 2013 meeting with Chinese Premier Li Keqyang in Dalian an additional 100 million yuan support instrument was signed between the twp governments.

“We highly value China’s financial support, which is of great importance to our country's social and economic life. We likewise welcome the Chinese government’s decision to build a Chinese school in Armenia as an earnest of friendship and strengthened cooperation between our two nations,” Tigran Sargsyan stated.

Noting that the economic ties stand high on the bilateral agenda, Tigran Sargsyan said to be pleased with their development trend. According to the Prime Minister, a landmark event on this way was the opening of Armenia’s stand at the Global Purchasing Center hosted by the city of Taizhou (Jiangsu Province) on the sidelines of his recent visit to the PRC.

Tigran Sargsyan highlighted the trade and economic cooperation agreement signed with his Chinese counterpart, which provides for the setting up of an intergovernmental commission on economic cooperation. According to the Armenian Premier, the agreement may help boost multifaceted exchanges in the field of economy.

“Information technology, industry and other key sectors, including tourism, are thought to be prospective areas for interaction, which call for the launch of direct flights between the two countries. We do believe that all this will give a new impetus to the expansion and strengthening of bilateral relations,” the Prime Minister said.
